Lluest y Gwynt Wind Farm and Grid Connection is classed as a Development of National Significance (DNS) – a type of planning application for a large infrastructure projects of national importance. For that reason, the planning application process will be dealt with by Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW), on behalf of the Welsh Government.
A DNS application is different to a normal planning application. An Inspector examines the application and makes a recommendation to the Welsh Government based on planning merits and national priorities. Welsh Government Ministers then decide whether or not to grant permission.
We held informal consultation events on the proposals in 2020 and 2021, and a Pre-Application Consultation between 11 December 2024 and 12 February 2025. We are very grateful to everyone who helped shape the final proposals ahead of submission.
We have recently submitted a Planning Application for Lluest y Gwynt Wind Farm. The application is now being checked by Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW). We will update the local community when the plans have been accepted and uploaded to the portal by PEDW.
